To me it's not about changing anyone's mind, but presenting an alternate / unconsidered viewpoint and trying to clarify yours for myself.

But since you're obviously cranky about this (and a lot of things!), I won't bother going any further.

My webmaster is hounding me to respond, to get a “back & forth” going even though I don’t feel the need to convince anyone of my position, nor will I be convinced of someone else’s.
Writing about race, gender, or sexual orientation is always tricky because, no matter how you play it, someone will always read too much into your opinion, or not enough.
I simply don’t give a shit when big business decides to acknowledge minorities for profit and attention. It’s not real, and I’m not going to accept what they give me just because it’s better than nothing.
If that’s cool with you, then enjoy your mouthful.
Don’t forget to swallow.

It's definitely weird of you to suggest that Miles, a black and Latino boy, be "a crap student and a juvenile delinquent" since that would be about twenty times more stereotypical and unimaginative than anything that was actually in the comic.

You have two arguments going on here and they're tripping each other up. I see your point about superhero comics needing to rely less on tried-and-true tropes. But couching that in the issue of race kind of makes it seem like you're saying that comics creators shouldn't even bother creating more characters of color, which I couldn't disagree with more.

I thought the Milestone comics were awesome. Even if they were riffs on established concepts (namely Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Superman), you need to think about that young black boy or girl who read those comics and finally saw themselves represented. That's something powerful that white folks who are used to seeing themselves everywhere just take for granted. The same is true for this new Ultimate Spider-Man.

Hey 10 Worlds, have you had a chance to watch this yet. I think this is one of the better superhero movies out there. I enjoyed every minute of it. I would love to read your thoughts on CA.
